About Amavasya Tarpana
Amavasya Tarpana is a sacred consecration/abhisheka ritual monthly tarpana on amavasya for pitru-shanti. A traditional monthly Amavasya Tarpana — sacred water-offerings to departed ancestors — performed for pitru-shanti, family welfare, and removal of pitru doshas. The ritual establishes the living presence of the deity through specific abhisheka dravya, mantras, and homa. Gopuja arranges Agama-trained Vaidika pandits in Bangalore for the complete Amavasya Tarpana with traditional procedure.
When to perform it
Amavasya Tarpana is performed in a carefully selected muhurta with consideration of nakshatra, tithi, and the deity's preferred kala. Pratishta rituals especially require Uttarayana months and morning lagnas — our Agama-shastris confirm the muhurta after chart and site inspection.
The South Indian procedure
South Indian Agama tradition (Pancharatra / Shaiva / Smarta) performs Amavasya Tarpana with full Adhivasa, Tattva-nyasa, Prana-pratishta, the prescribed abhisheka liquids in sequence (panchamrita, then phala-jala etc.), and homa as per the Agama prescribed for Pitrus (Ancestors).
This is the form our pandits follow by default in Hootagalli — Mysore families are overwhelmingly Kannada-tradition. Tell us if your family follows a different sampradaya and we will match a purohit accordingly.
