What is Shubh Muhurat — and why 2026 is special

Shubh muhurat (शुभ मुहूर्त) is an auspicious time-window chosen according to the Vedic Panchang — the five-limbed Hindu almanac that calculates tithi (lunar day), nakshatra(the moon's position in one of 27 star-clusters), vaar (weekday and its ruling planet), yoga (sun-moon longitude combination) and karana (half-tithi). When all five align favourably, the moment carries the imprint of Devata-anugraha — divine sanction — and any sankalpa initiated then is believed to fructify many times over.

2026 is a strong Panchang year because there is no Adhik Maas(intercalary lunar month) and Uttarayana opens cleanly on 14 January 2026 with Makar Sankranti. The year delivers two universally-revered purchase days — Akshaya Tritiya on 20 April (anything begun is said to be akshaya, never-decaying) and Dhanteras on 7 November — and multiple Guru Pushyamrut Yoga(Pushya nakshatra on Thursday) windows for gold, business and samskara.

This page is the most comprehensive 2026 muhurat reference for Bangalore — covering gold purchase muhurat, vehicle purchase muhurat, property registration muhurat, business start muhurat, mortgage/home loan muhurat, insurance start muhurat, surgery muhurat, travel muhurat, investment muhurat, education / Aksharabhyasa muhurat, new job joining muhurat and the foundational reference grid for 16 tithis, 27 nakshatras and 7 vaars. Wedding (Vivaha), Griha Pravesh and child-samskara muhurats are at our dedicated /muhurat-calendar page.

Lakshmi favours these days

Gold purchase muhurat 2026 is decided primarily by Pushya nakshatra (universally the most auspicious for any sankalpa of wealth), Akshaya Tritiya (the single most powerful purchase day of the year) and Dhanteras (start of Diwali week). Avoid Tuesday & Saturday for new gold; never buy on Amavasya or eclipse days.

Tithi guide — what each lunar day favours

The tithi (lunar day) is the second-most powerful factor in any muhurat. Shukla Paksha (waxing moon, 1–15) is generally preferred over Krishna Paksha (waning moon, 1–14 + Amavasya). Each tithi has a presiding deity, a fast-class (Nanda/Bhadra/Jaya/Rikta/Purna), and specific actions it favours.

Nakshatra guide for every activity

The nakshatra (moon's position among the 27 constellations) decides whether a day is in harmony with your family. Pushya, Rohini and Hasta are the supreme three for any sankalpa. Each nakshatra has a ruling deity, a ruling planet (used in dasha calculation), and a gana (Deva / Manushya / Rakshasa).

The complete guide to 2026 Shubh Muhurat in Bangalore

When is the best time to buy gold in 2026?

The two universally-accepted gold purchase muhurats in 2026 are Akshaya Tritiya (20 April, a Monday) and Dhanteras (7 November, a Saturday). Akshaya Tritiya is the single most powerful purchase day — gold, jewellery, silver, gold ETF, sovereign gold bond, mutual fund SIP and any wealth-instrument bought today is believed to be akshaya (never-decaying). In Bangalore jewellery showrooms see record sales on this day. Dhanteras opens the Diwali week and is considered Kubera-vaar (treasury day) — particularly auspicious for gold coins, silverware and kitchen utensils. Beyond these two, every Pushya nakshatra day of 2026 (occurring roughly every 27 days) and especially Guru Pushyamrut Yoga (Pushya on Thursday) is supreme for gold sankalpa.

What is the best date for new car or vehicle delivery in 2026?

For vehicle purchase muhurat 2026 — car, bike, scooter, EV — three peak days stand out: Akshaya Tritiya (20 April), Vijaya Dashami (29 September) and Dhanteras (7 November). Avoid Tuesday (Mangala vaar) and Saturday (Shani vaar) for delivery — these vaars are traditionally linked to accidents and breakdowns. The seven auspicious vehicle nakshatras are Mrigashira, Pushya, Hasta, Chitra, Swati, Anuradha and Revati. After driving home, perform a quick Vahan Puja with our pandits — we offer a same-day mobile vahan-puja service across all Bangalore areas.

Best dates for property purchase, registration & Griha Pravesh in 2026

Property purchase muhurat 2026 leans heavily on Uttarayana (14 Jan – 16 Jul) and avoids Chaturmasa (17 Jul – 7 Nov) for Bhoomi Puja and Griha Pravesh. The strongest registration and Bhoomi Puja days are Apr 20 (Akshaya Tritiya), May 22, Dec 9, and any day under Rohini, Uttara Phalguni, Uttarashada or Uttara Bhadrapada nakshatras (the four sthira / fixed nakshatras whose stable energy carries to permanent investments). For the full Griha Pravesh and Vivaha muhurat list with detailed bride-groom nakshatra considerations, see our dedicated muhurat calendar.

Starting a new business, shop or office in 2026

Business start muhurat 2026 for shop opening, office inauguration, factory launch or startup registration centres on the four peak days: Apr 20 Akshaya Tritiya, Sep 29 Vijayadashami, Oct 19 Lakshmi Pujan and Nov 7 Dhanteras. We perform new-shop opening puja, factory inauguration puja and Vyapara Vruddhi sankalpa across Whitefield, HSR Layout, Electronic City, Koramangala and all of Bangalore — same-day booking via WhatsApp.

Daily timing — Brahma Muhurat, Abhijit, Rahu Kalam in Bangalore

Even within an auspicious tithi, the time-of-day matters. Brahma Muhurat in Bangalore is the 96-minute window before sunrise (roughly 4:15–6:00 AM in summer) — supreme for mantra-japa and study. Abhijit Muhurat is the 48-minute window centred on solar noon (roughly 11:48 AM – 12:35 PM) — universally auspicious for any small sankalpa. Rahu Kalam is the 90-minute daily inauspicious window — Monday 7:30–9:00 AM, Tuesday 3:00–4:30 PM, Wednesday 12:00–1:30 PM, Thursday 1:30–3:00 PM, Friday 10:30 AM–12:00 PM, Saturday 9:00–10:30 AM, Sunday 4:30–6:00 PM (approximate, varies with sunrise). Yamaganda and Gulika Kala are similar 90-minute daily windows that we factor in with every muhurat we set.

Why Pushya Nakshatra is the supreme purchase day

Pushya nakshatra(पुष्य, "nourishment") is universally regarded as the most auspicious of the 27 nakshatras. Ruled by Brihaspati (Jupiter, the deva-guru), Pushya carries an unbroken positive valence — even classical inauspicious tithis are partially redeemed when Pushya nakshatra is in force. When Pushya falls on Thursday it becomes Guru Pushyamrut Yoga (Guru-Jupiter ruling-vaar + Guru-ruled-nakshatra = supreme); when it falls on Sunday it becomes Ravi Pushya Yoga — particularly favoured for property and authority. Multiple Guru Pushyamrut days occur across 2026, roughly once every nine weeks — we list them in our PDF.

South Indian vs North Indian muhurat — does the date change?

The underlying Panchang (tithi, nakshatra, yoga, karana, vaar) is identical across India because the moon's position is global. But two calculation conventions differ: South Indian Amanta (month ends on Amavasya) and North Indian Purnimanta(month ends on Purnima). This means a date that South India calls "Vaishakha Shukla Purnima" might be called "Jyeshtha Shukla Purnima" in North India — same date, different month-name. Some festival dates therefore shift by a few days. At Gopuja we use the correct system for each family — Iyer, Iyengar, Madhwa, Smartha, Marathi, Marwari, Bengali, Gujarati, Punjabi — based on your parampara.

How to use this 2026 calendar with your nakshatra (tarabala & chandrabala)

Tarabala (तारबल) compares the muhurat nakshatra to your janma nakshatra in a 9-fold cycle. Three are auspicious (Sampat, Sadhana, Mitra), three are mixed (Janma, Kshema, Param Mitra) and three are inauspicious (Vipat, Pratyari, Vadha). Chandrabala(चन्द्रबल) compares the muhurat-moon's rashi to your janma rashi — 2, 5, 9 are inauspicious; most others are favourable. A generally auspicious date in this calendar may still be Vipat-tara or low-chandrabala for YOUR family — that's why we always ask for the eldest karta's nakshatra and gotra before confirming a muhurat. The PDF we send is customised to your family.

Common questions

Frequently asked — Panchang, muhurat & purchases

How do I use this 2026 Shubh Muhurat calendar for my purchase or puja?
Pick the activity category (gold / vehicle / property / business / education / job / journey / investment / construction / loan / insurance / medical), shortlist 2–3 dates from the month-wise list, then WhatsApp us your family's primary nakshatra (often the eldest son's or kartri's). We confirm the precise muhurat hour and minute free with any booking.
What is the difference between this page and the Muhurat Calendar?
The Muhurat Calendar focuses on the four core samskaras — Griha Pravesh, Vivaha (wedding), baby rituals (Namakarana, Annaprashana, Upanayanam) and the Hindu festival calendar. This Shubh Muhurat 2026 page is broader: it adds purchase muhurats (gold, vehicle, property, investments, business, job, journey, loan, insurance, surgery) plus a complete Tithi / Nakshatra / Vaar reference grid and daily window guide (Brahma, Abhijit, Rahu Kalam, Yamaganda, Gulika).
Which is the single most auspicious day of 2026?
For purchases and any sankalpa, Akshaya Tritiya on 20 April 2026 is universally considered the most auspicious — anything begun today is believed to fructify indefinitely (akshaya = never-decaying). Other peaks: Dhanteras (7 Nov), Vijaya Dashami (29 Sep), Diwali Lakshmi Pujan (19 Oct), Guru Purnima (3 Jul), Vasant Panchami (23 Jan).
Should I follow these dates strictly, or are my family's nakshatra dates more important?
Both matter. These windows filter out the obviously inauspicious tithi/nakshatra/vaar combinations across the year. But your family's primary nakshatra decides which window is right for YOU — this is where tarabala and chandrabala come in. Share your nakshatra on WhatsApp and we pick the strongest day from the month-list with full tarabala/chandrabala verification.
Can I buy a vehicle, gold or sign a job offer on Tuesday or Saturday?
Tuesday (Mangala vaar) is traditionally avoided for gold, vehicle, marriage and joining new work — Mars rules martial energies, accidents and disputes. Saturday (Shani vaar) is avoided for joining work, marriage and starting business — Saturn brings delays. However, iron tools, steel, oil and Shani sankalpa are traditionally PERFORMED on Saturday. Sunday vehicle purchase is fine.
What about Chaturmasa 2026 — can I still buy things or perform pujas?
Yes — you can still buy gold, vehicles, electronics and clothes during Chaturmasa (17 Jul – 7 Nov 2026). Chaturmasa restrictions apply only to: Griha Pravesh, Bhoomi Puja, Vivaha (wedding), Upanayanam, Shilanyaas, major housewarming, and starting new construction. Daily worship, mantra-japa, vrata, and Veda parayana are actually MORE auspicious during Chaturmasa.
What is Pushya Nakshatra and why is it so important for gold?
Pushya (पुष्य) is the 8th of the 27 nakshatras, ruled by Brihaspati (Jupiter — the deva-guru). The Vedic texts (Brihat Samhita, Muhurta Chintamani) call Pushya the "nakshatra of nourishment" — anything sown on Pushya grows beyond expectation. When Pushya falls on a Thursday it becomes Guru Pushyamrut Yoga (अमृत = nectar of immortality), the supreme combination for gold, jewellery, business sankalpa and samskara. When Pushya falls on Sunday it becomes Ravi Pushya Yoga — excellent for property and authority work.
What is Abhijit Muhurat and how do I use it daily?
Abhijit Muhurat is the 48-minute window centred exactly on solar noon (madhyahna). It is one of the most universally auspicious daily windows — any work begun in Abhijit succeeds unless overridden by an eclipse, Bhadra, or a strong personal dosha. In Bangalore, Abhijit is roughly 11:48 AM – 12:35 PM (varies slightly by date). It is especially useful when no specific muhurat window is available — for example, you can start a small puja, write an exam, sign a small contract, or begin a journey within Abhijit.
What is Rahu Kalam and why is it important?
Rahu Kalam is a 90-minute inauspicious period that occurs each day, varying by weekday and local sunrise. Starting any auspicious work during Rahu Kalam is universally avoided. Approximate Bangalore Rahu Kalam (sunrise ~6:15 AM in summer): Monday 7:30–9:00 AM, Tuesday 3:00–4:30 PM, Wednesday 12:00–1:30 PM, Thursday 1:30–3:00 PM, Friday 10:30 AM–12:00 PM, Saturday 9:00–10:30 AM, Sunday 4:30–6:00 PM. Our pandits compute the exact daily Rahu Kalam free with every booking.
What is Disha Shool and how do I work around it for travel?
Disha Shool (दिशा शूल) is a "directional thorn" — one direction per weekday is considered inauspicious to travel toward. Monday: east. Tuesday: north. Wednesday: north. Thursday: south. Friday: west. Saturday: east. Sunday: west. The remedy (parihar) involves eating a specific food (curd, til, jaggery, ghee) or carrying a small item (betel leaf, urad dal, hing) before stepping out. If you absolutely must travel in the disha-shool direction, leave one step in the opposite direction first or perform the parihar.
I want this calendar as a PDF — can I share it with my family?
Yes — WhatsApp us at +91 6364375041 and request the 2026 Shubh Muhurat PDF. We send a printable monthly chart customised to your family nakshatra showing tarabala/chandrabala windows specific to your members. No charge with any booking.
Do you customise the muhurat for South Indian (Iyer, Iyengar, Madhwa, Smartha) and North Indian (Marwari, Marathi, Bengali, Gujarati, Punjabi) traditions?
Yes. The underlying Panchang is identical but the calculation differs: South India uses Amanta (month ends on Amavasya), North India uses Purnimanta (month ends on Purnima). Some auspicious windows therefore shift by a few days. Our pandits at Gopuja use the correct regional system for your family — just tell us your family parampara.
What is tarabala and chandrabala and why do you ask for my nakshatra?
Tarabala (तारबल) is the "star-strength" — a 9-fold cycle comparing the muhurat's nakshatra to your janma-nakshatra (birth star). Three of the nine are auspicious (Sampat, Sadhana, Mitra), three are mixed, and three are inauspicious (Vipat, Pratyari, Vadha). Chandrabala (चन्द्रबल) is the "moon-strength" — a 12-fold cycle comparing the muhurat-moon's rashi to your janma-rashi. Together they decide whether a generally auspicious day is auspicious for YOUR family. Without these, generic Panchang dates are only half the picture.
Are there any inauspicious nakshatras for buying or starting things in 2026?
Universally avoided nakshatras for purchases and new ventures: Bharani, Krittika (mixed — only Agni-rituals), Ardra (storms & destruction), Ashlesha (requires nakshatra shanti), Jyeshtha (gandanta junction), and Moola (requires shanti for newborns). The remaining 21 nakshatras are workable, with Pushya, Rohini and Hasta being the supreme three for any sankalpa.
Is there an Adhik Maas (extra month) in 2026?
2026 has no Adhik Maas (intercalary month) — the next one is in 2029. Adhik Maas occurs roughly every 32–33 months when an extra synodic month is added to align the lunar calendar with the solar year. During Adhik Maas, all worldly sankalpa (purchases, weddings, business launches) are paused; only spiritual practice (japa, parayana, dana) is recommended.
