About Ashlesha Bali
Ashlesha Bali is a specialised Vedic ritual performed specifically to propitiate the Naga Devatas and pacify afflictions caused by Ashlesha nakshatra placement or Sarpa Dosha in the horoscope. Famous in the Kukke Subramanya tradition, this ritual is prescribed for individuals suffering from recurring skin diseases, fertility issues, delayed childbirth, miscarriage, children's health problems, and mysterious ailments that have no medical explanation. Gopuja brings authentic Kukke-style Ashlesha Bali to your home in Bangalore.
When to perform it
Performed on Panchami (5th tithi) of Shukla Paksha — especially Naga Panchami. Sundays and days ruled by Ashlesha, Rohini, or Mrigashira are auspicious. Also recommended on Ashlesha nakshatra day of each month. Pre-dawn or morning hours are preferred.
The South Indian procedure
South Indian (particularly Tulu / Kannada coastal) tradition — the core tradition. Performed with silver Naga idols placed on banana leaves, abhisheka with milk, turmeric, and sandalwood. The pandit recites Naga Stotra, Subramanya Ashtottara, and Garuda Purana naga-propitiation mantras.
This is the form our pandits follow by default in Jayalakshmipuram — Mysore families are overwhelmingly Kannada-tradition. Tell us if your family follows a different sampradaya and we will match a purohit accordingly.

Ashlesha Bali — common questions
My child was born in Ashlesha nakshatra — is this puja required?
Ashlesha is a gandanta nakshatra with a notorious tail-end (last 3 padas). If born in the gandanta, Ashlesha Bali or Dusta Nakshatra Shanti is recommended around the 27th day after birth and repeated periodically.
Is this the same as Sarpa Samskara?
Related but distinct. Ashlesha Bali is a focused propitiation ritual done more frequently. Sarpa Samskara is a much larger, once-in-a-lifetime ritual for severe Kalasarpa / Sarpa Dosha. We offer both.
Can it be performed at home or must I go to Kukke Subramanya?
Traditionally Kukke Subramanya temple is the preferred venue, but for those in Bangalore unable to travel, our pandits perform authentic Kukke-vidhi Ashlesha Bali at your home. Travel to the temple later is still beneficial but not mandatory.
