About Parayana (Sacred Recitations)
Parayana is the disciplined, sequential recitation of a sacred text from start to finish — typically performed over 1, 3, 7, or 9 days. Gopuja arranges Bhagavad Gita Parayana (1 day, 700 verses), Valmiki Ramayana Parayana (9 days), Srimad Bhagavata Saptaha (7 days, 18000 verses), Devi Mahatmya / Durga Saptashati Parayana (1–9 days), Vishnu Sahasranama Parayana, Sundarakanda Parayana, and any other traditional paath. Hosted at your home with 1 or more qualified pandits, ideal for shraddhas, house sanctification, punya-anushthana, or before major life events.
When to perform it
Bhagavata Saptaha is often done in Shravana, Karthika, or Vaishakha. Ramayana Parayana during Chaitra Navaratri or Ramayana Masa (in Kerala tradition). Devi Mahatmya during Sharad Navaratri. Vishnu Sahasranama monthly on Ekadashi. Customise based on your gotra tradition and family need.
The South Indian procedure
South Indian tradition is especially known for Bhagavata Saptaha (Tirunelveli / Udupi style) with an Acharya expounding each sarga, Vishnu Sahasranama Parayana (Friday after Ekadashi), and Valmiki Ramayana Parayana. Daily kirtan, bhajans, and acharya-pravachan are part of the immersion.
This is the form our pandits follow by default in TK Layout — Mysore families are overwhelmingly Kannada-tradition. Tell us if your family follows a different sampradaya and we will match a purohit accordingly.

Parayana (Sacred Recitations) — common questions
Which parayana should I choose for my situation?
Bhagavata Saptaha — for moksha, ancestral peace, general punya. Ramayana — for family harmony, Ram-rajya in the home. Devi Mahatmya — for shakti, protection, health. Vishnu Sahasranama — for career, prosperity. Sundarakanda — for strength, removing fears. Our pandit will guide based on your need.
Do we need to sit through the entire paath?
Not required — the pandit / acharya performs the paath while you attend morning and evening aarti and neivedyam. Family can join during the pravachan sessions. Many book Bhagavata Saptaha while continuing work days.
How much space is needed at home for Bhagavata Saptaha?
A dedicated puja room or living room of approximately 10×12 feet where the Vyasa-gadi is set up and not disturbed for the 7 days. We set up and clean daily.
Can it be done as a mini-parayana on weekends?
Yes — Ramayana Parayana can be spread over 5 weekend days, or Bhagavata Saptaha over 7 evenings. We accommodate working families' schedules.

Whether you are in an independent house, one of the newer apartment projects, or a family home that has been in the locality for generations, the parayana (sacred recitations) is performed at your address with the samagri brought to you.
Mysore families usually want the Kannada tradition, and that is our default here — the sankalpa, the procedure and the explanation all in Kannada.
