About Satyanarayana Puja
The Satyanarayana Puja is one of the most beloved and widely performed pujas in Hindu households. Dedicated to Lord Vishnu as Satyanarayana (the true lord of the universe), this puja is performed to seek his blessings for prosperity, family happiness, and fulfillment of sincere prayers. It is customarily performed on full moon days (Poornima), Ekadashi, or on special occasions like birthdays, anniversaries, or completion of significant events.
When to perform it
On Poornima (full moon), Ekadashi, birthdays, anniversaries, completion of a vow (Udyapana), after recovery from illness, housewarming, or any celebration of good fortune. Also performed monthly by devout families.
The South Indian procedure
South Indian tradition includes elaborate Vishnu Sahasranama recitation, Tulasi archana with 108 names, and Panchamrita abhishekam. Prasad (Sheera/Panakam) is distributed to all.
This is the form our pandits follow by default in Tilaknagar — Mysore families are overwhelmingly Kannada-tradition. Tell us if your family follows a different sampradaya and we will match a purohit accordingly.

Yes, this is primarily a home puja. Our pandit comes to your home, sets up the puja space, and conducts the entire ritual including Katha recitation.
What is the prasad for this puja?
The traditional prasad is Sheera (semolina pudding with ghee and sugar), Panakam (jaggery drink), and Kosambari (lentil salad). We prepare or guide preparation of the prasad.
