About Rudra Homa
Rudra Homa is one of the most revered Vedic fire rituals — it uses the Sri Rudram (Namakam + Chamakam) from the Yajur Veda, the supreme hymn to Lord Shiva. The homa is classified by intensity: Laghu Rudra (11 rounds of Rudram), Maha Rudra (121 rounds = 11×11), and Ati Rudra (1331 rounds = 11×11×11 performed over days by multiple ritviks). Rudra Homa is performed for serious health issues, chronic ailments, removing pitru dosha, family elevation, and spiritual awakening. In Bangalore, we offer all three scales.
When to perform it
Most auspicious on Maha Shivaratri, Pradosha, Shravan Somvar, Karthika Somvar, and Shivaratri of each month. Also performed as a remedy for persistent illness, unexplained family suffering, or major life transitions. Avoid during Chaturmasa if possible unless urgent.
The South Indian procedure
South Indian Rudra Homa follows the Apastamba / Bodhayana sutra with full Namakam + Chamakam per round, Rudra Trishati archana, and abhisheka of Shiva lingam with panchamrita, bilva, and kumkum. Typically accompanied by Ekadasa Vakya Aamnaya.
This is the form our pandits follow by default in Belagola — Mysore families are overwhelmingly Kannada-tradition. Tell us if your family follows a different sampradaya and we will match a purohit accordingly.

Rudra Homa — common questions
What is the difference between Laghu, Maha, and Ati Rudra?
Laghu Rudra = 11 rounds of Sri Rudram (half-day ritual). Maha Rudra = 121 rounds (full day or 2 days, requires 11 ritviks). Ati Rudra = 1331 rounds (9–11 days, requires 121 ritviks — a temple-scale event). Choose based on urgency and budget.
Can Rudra Homa be done at home or only in a temple?
Laghu Rudra and Maha Rudra are regularly done at home in Bangalore. Ati Rudra needs a large venue and is usually done at a temple or community hall. Our pandit team handles both.
My family has been facing unexplained troubles for years — which scale do we need?
For recurring family-level suffering, Maha Rudra is typically prescribed. Our senior pandit can examine the situation and horoscopes and guide you precisely.
How long is the actual event for Maha Rudra?
Maha Rudra typically runs 1–2 days with 11 ritviks chanting 11 rounds each in parallel. It's a powerful, immersive event for the whole family.

Planning your Rudra Homa in Belagola
Belagola sits in North Mysore, close to Belagola Industrial Estate, and we serve the whole belt around it — Metagalli, Hootagalli, Hebbal, KRS Road included. Whether you are in an independent house, one of the newer apartment projects, or a family home that has been in the locality for generations, the rudra homa is performed at your address with the samagri brought to you.
Mysore families usually want the Kannada tradition, and that is our default here — the sankalpa, the procedure and the explanation all in Kannada. If your family follows a different sampradaya, or you need the ritual explained in English for relatives joining from abroad, say so when you book and we will match a purohit accordingly.
