About Rudra Homa
Rudra Homa is one of the most revered Vedic fire rituals — it uses the Sri Rudram (Namakam + Chamakam) from the Yajur Veda, the supreme hymn to Lord Shiva. The homa is classified by intensity: Laghu Rudra (11 rounds of Rudram), Maha Rudra (121 rounds = 11×11), and Ati Rudra (1331 rounds = 11×11×11 performed over days by multiple ritviks). Rudra Homa is performed for serious health issues, chronic ailments, removing pitru dosha, family elevation, and spiritual awakening. In Bangalore, we offer all three scales.
When to Perform
Most auspicious on Maha Shivaratri, Pradosha, Shravan Somvar, Karthika Somvar, and Shivaratri of each month. Also performed as a remedy for persistent illness, unexplained family suffering, or major life transitions. Avoid during Chaturmasa if possible unless urgent.

South Indian Rudra Homa follows the Apastamba / Bodhayana sutra with full Namakam + Chamakam per round, Rudra Trishati archana, and abhisheka of Shiva lingam with panchamrita, bilva, and kumkum. Typically accompanied by Ekadasa Vakya Aamnaya.
🔱 North Indian
North Indian / Kashi tradition includes Rudra Havan with Mahamrityunjaya Mantra interwoven, Bilvarchana (1008 bilva leaves), Shiva Sahasranama paath, and closing Bhasma Aarti. Ganga water abhisheka is central.
