About the temple
Home of the Bengaluru Karaga, the city's oldest festival, held on Chaitra Poornima.
Sri Dharmaraya Swamy Temple in Thigalarapet is dedicated to Dharmaraya (Yudhishthira), the Pandavas, Krishna and Draupadi. It is the heart of the Thigala community and one of the oldest temples of the pete area.
Every year on Chaitra Poornima it hosts the Bengaluru Karaga, the city's oldest festival. Draupadi is worshipped as Adishakti, and the Karaga bearer carries a tall flower pyramid on his head through the old city through the night. The procession also visits the dargah of Hazrat Tawakkal Mastan, a centuries-old tradition of harmony.
Bring the blessings home
Devotees of Draupadi & the Pandavas often follow a temple visit with a puja at home. A Gopuja pandit brings the full samagri kit and performs it with the same Vedic vidhi.
