About the temple
The temple the whole locality is named after. Rahu kala puja with lemon lamps on Tuesdays and Fridays.
Sri Banashankari Amma Temple on Kanakapura Road was founded in 1915 by a devotee of the Banashankari of Badami, in north Karnataka. Over the following century the whole area grew around it, and Banashankari became one of Bangalore's largest localities.
The goddess is a form of Parvati. The temple is famous for Rahu kala puja on Tuesdays and Fridays, when devotees light lamps made from halved lemons to ease obstacles. Navratri brings special alankara each day.
Bring the blessings home
Devotees of Goddess Banashankari often follow a temple visit with a puja at home. A Gopuja pandit brings the full samagri kit and performs it with the same Vedic vidhi.
