About the temple
Unearthed in 1997: water flows continuously from a Nandi's mouth onto a Shivalinga, into a temple tank.
Sri Dakshinamukha Nandi Teertha Kalyani Kshetra was found buried under earth in 1997, when a plot opposite the Kadu Malleshwara Temple was being cleared. Excavation revealed a stone temple and a stepped kalyani believed to be several centuries old.
Its wonder is the water: it flows from the mouth of a Nandi, falls on a Shivalinga below and then into the temple tank. The source of the water has never been clearly traced.
Bring the blessings home
Devotees of Lord Shiva often follow a temple visit with a puja at home. A Gopuja pandit brings the full samagri kit and performs it with the same Vedic vidhi.
